I have two passions in life: Fitness and Beauty. I am obsessed with them both, and always have been. Growing up I was labeled the “girly tomboy” (oxymoron much?). I kicked ass in competitive sports, while sporting a full face of flawless make up to all my games. I was a cheerleader and a starting fast pitch softball catcher. I worked out in grungy gyms with the meatheads, while wearing bows in my hair. You get the picture. I believe I am like this because my parents encouraged both sides of me to come out, my mom with the beauty, and my dad with the athleticism. They never made me chose one side over the other (although my dad did always threaten to take away my mascara if it ever got in my eye during a game and I missed a ball . My dad also exposed me to the fitness industry very early on, with him being a pro bodybuilder, judge and show promoter. I basically grew up constantly surrounded by athletes working to improve their bodies and working hard.
I didn’t realize it at the time, but this set me up to have a lot of confidence growing up. I was shown early on that I had control over everything about my appearance. I could play around with hair and make-up, and also build any type of body I wanted. I never felt like I was dealt a “bad hand” because I could always put in work to make changes. And if I didn’t want to put in the work, I knew I was choosing how I looked, which gave me confidence because it was my decision. It’s when you feel that you don’t have control over something that you feel helpless and insecure. I have come across too many women that lack confidence in themselves because of that, and I want to put a stop to it. I want to show them what I was taught growing up, that no matter what your age is, how you looked before, etc, you have the power to change yourself into a version you are proud of and gain the confidence that comes with it.
Don’t get the wrong impression, this isn’t only about the surface level thing of appearance. This goes way beyond that. You see, confidence in one’s appearance seems to have a huge trickle-down effect. When someone feels good about themselves, they develop confidence in other areas of their lives. And that is the main goal with this. I want to create a group of beautiful, strong, confident women that know that nothing is impossible. I think this starts with being proud of the image you project to others. Because let’s face it, when we feel good about how we look, we also feel like we can take over the world 🙂
